The Waiting is Over - Komedia Bath opens

Published on Thursday, November 13th, 2008

It has been two years in the making, and many more in the minds of the Komedia team but at long last, at 7.30 this evening, the club will swell to the sounds of singer Roddy Frame and a sell-out crowd.

The buzz about town has been amazing, with so many local (and not so local) people genuinely excited about this new venue - even the front of house team at Jamie’s Italian in Bath yesterday told us they couldn’t wait!

“This is such an important venue for Bath,” says Stubbs Rich Associate Director, Paul Younger. “It brings a whole new range of contemporary entertainment into the city centre, fully complementing the existing offerings. Its combination of cafe society, comedy, cabaret, music and more is unlike anything else in the city. The former cinema has been empty for over five years and now it has been beautifully restored and re-created to provide the perfect showcase for such a wide range of entertainment.”

103 Milton Park Blows Air Test Target

Published on Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Stubbs Rich can report that the recent BRE air leakage test at 103 Milton Park has smashed an impressive target of 5m 3(h.m2) @ 50 Pa by delivering a figure of 2.26 3/h.m2) @ 50 Pa.

The energy performance of buildings is forefront in the minds of developer MEPC so we, along with  principal contractor Mace, were looking to achieve the best result; building on experience gained in other previous Milton Park developments.

Simon Lloyd of Building Sciences, who undertook the test, says: “This excellent air permeability result reflects the importance assigned to the appraisal of the design at an early stage and to the standard of workmanship achieved throughout the project.”

Komedia Club Opening - four weeks to go….

Published on Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

There are just four weeks to go until the opening of the brand new Komedia venue in central Bath. Bookings are now being taken for the winter programme and the line up includes local lady and jazz singer, Clare Teal, in the opening month.

Stubbs Rich have worked closely with our client throughout the transformation of this derelict Grade II listed former cinema. The development of the senstive site has been an interesting challenge and Associate Director Paul Younger is looking forward to seeing the club in use in just a few weeks. He says:

“It is always challenging to take on this type of project in a central location and I think we have done a really good job of balancing the history of the building with the very contemporary requirement of a successful comedy, music and cabaret venue. I will personally derive a great deal of satisfaction from seeing people enjoying the club and the many benefits it will bring to Bath.”
